Will Munro 1975-2010

Mercer is deeply saddened by the death of Will Munro today. He was an indefatigable force in the Toronto art and queer community. Mercer will remember him for his support for our various events and fundraisers over the past few years, and as a close neighbour. Toronto has suffered a huge loss.

York Lethbridge appointed new Director of Operations and Development

The Board of Directors of Mercer Union are pleased to announce the appointment of York Lethbridge to the position of Director of Operations and Development, effective February 24, 2010.

York Lethbridge brings a wealth of experience in the non-profit arts sector and his leadership will be key in driving Mercer Union’s development and operations strategy. His appointment comes at an important growth moment for the gallery, which is establishing a new presence and record of innovative programming at its current location at 1286 Bloor Street West.

York holds a BFA from Queen's University (2002) and an MA in Art History from York University (2008). He has worked for various arts organizations including the OCAD Professional Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre. He has been an active volunteer for various arts-related charities in Toronto. York has also curated independent projects including recent presentations of Connecting with Collections 2: Destinations at Gallery Lambton, Sarnia, and Abject Nature at The Union Gallery, Queen's University, Kingston.
