Written and directed by Armando Iannucci (Alan Partridge, The Day Today), the series is a comedy in the vein of Larry Sanders, The Newsroom or Curb Your Enthusiasm but also serves as a far superior political drama than, say, The West Wing. The humour is drier than BBC’s the Office and features a central character even less sympathetic than Gervais’ David Brent. I'm only three episodes in, but it seems pretty consistently strong.
Also like The Office, it’s currently being remade for American television. Christopher Guest is set to direct and Mitch Hurowitz (Arrested Development) will be writing.
